Three Little Monkeys....

This blog was created as an on-line scrapbook of our lives as a family of 5. It was originally created to keep family and friends posted during the journey which brought our son home from Seoul, Korea in Dec. 2006.

The Newest Little Camper

Mikey seemed to enjoy his first camping trip. He really did not seem to mind living in 300sq ft. with 4 other people too much! The girls think the new camper is just the greatest, particularly their room that has 4 bunks and a large closet where they can go and close the door and make a HUGE mess. They did seem to sleep pretty well in there, I think better than the old camper, which had canvas bunks.

It can be a challenge, if the kids don't sleep we don't always get along very well the following day, and conditions need to be right when living in such close quarters with your family. They do however, say that families that camp are families that stay together and have kids who tend to be happier teenagers and lots of times camp with their own families when they have one..... maybe it's one of those "if it doesn't kill you it'll make you stronger" type things!

Mikey enjoyed his first trip to the beach. We tried to keep the "nu nu" (pacifier) in his mouth to block any other objects from going in, and that seemed to work quite nicely.

I really wish I had taken a picture of the little stand that Katie and Ellie had by the side of the campground road on our campsite. Ellie worked hard to catch 32 caterpillars that she kept in this huge jar. The girls made a sign that said "$.25 to hold a caterpillar. Fat or skinny, big or small". They hit everyone who walked by up for $.25 in exchange for a moment with one of thier caterpillars. They did not make any money except off Brian and me, and I decided that they needed something to occupy them other than prostituting caterpillars! :-) Later in the day Ellie saw one of the guys she talked to who had told them that he would bring a quarter next time he walked by. She asked him, "so, do you have that quarter yet? It's too late now, my mom MADE me dump the caterpillars all out!"
